Parenting
No doubt you've probably heard parenthood described as "the hardest job you'll ever love". A friend of mine; not a close friend yet, but already a dear one; is truly experiencing this reality, and has been at least since the birth of her twins, about a year and a half ago. She has been a mom longer than this, but after their birth is when she started experiencing postpartum depression. About that time she also started having problems with her marriage. She even left her family for about 3 days. She felt like such a bad mom, such a bad wife, why had she ever become either? My friend knows about God, but I am not yet sure if she truly KNOWS GOD. Without Him, how can she possibly have hope? She knew she loves her kids and that they need a stable, loving mom and dad for the best possible upbringing; so she and her husband were able to work things out and have been doing a lot more as a family. He spends less time with his friends and his old bad habits, and more time with his wife and kids. This beautiful woman with so many blessings is still battling depression in a big way. She doesn't know how to train/discipline her kids in an effective way. She doesn't know how to handle her emotions and/or hormones when they get the best of her. She doesn't have the essential tools every parent needs, or at least her toolbox isn't full. I've been doing my best to encourage her, point her towards scripture that will help, and to find a MOPS group in her area. I pray for this woman, and I ask that you would too. You can call her J, our precious heavenly father knows her name, praise Him that He does! She is His daughter and He loves her, just as he loves every one of us!
